## kustomize edit add configuration adds configuration file references (kustomize, 2026-09-30)

How to use it:

When adding configuration references to a kustomization file, run `kustomize edit add configuration` with one or more file paths. The command accepts glob patterns and skips duplicate references with a log message, making repeated additions idempotent.

Examples:

```
kustomize edit add configuration <filepath>
```

```
kustomize edit add configuration <filepath1>,<filepath2>
```

```
kustomize edit add configuration <path-or-glob> [<path-or-glob> ...]
```

- why_it_matters: Add configuration file references to a kustomization.yaml from the command line.

- gotchas: "Version: v5.8.2"; "configuration filepath argument (required): At least one YAML file path containing a configuration resource; multiple arguments are accepted. Glob patterns are expanded."; "Prerequisite: Run in a directory containing a readable kustomization file; the command reads and writes that file."
