agent-browser adds persisted browser sessions and click new-tab option

Introduced 2026-02-13 · score 0.98

HOW TO USE IT

When resuming work across browser restarts, use `--session-name` to persist cookies and localStorage; set an encryption key to encrypt saved state. When a click should open its link in a separate tab, add `--new-tab`.

agent-browser --session-name <name> open <url>
agent-browser click <selector> --new-tab
agent-browser state list agent-browser state show <file> agent-browser state rename <old-name> <new-name> agent-browser state clear <name> agent-browser state clean --older-than <days>

WHY THIS HELPS

When resuming browser work across restarts or opening a clicked link in a separate tab, preserve session state or open the link in a new tab.

REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS

  • Version: v0.10.0
  • --session-name <name>: Name for automatic saved-state persistence. Current docs mark this as legacy; they document `--restore` with a stable `--session` for automatic persistence.
  • AGENT_BROWSER_ENCRYPTION_KEY: 64-character hexadecimal key; when set, encrypts saved state with AES-256-GCM. Generate with `openssl rand -hex 32`.
  • click <selector> --new-tab: `<selector>` identifies the element to click; `--new-tab` opens the link in a new tab.
  • state show <file> (required): File to show a saved-state summary for.
  • state rename <old-name> <new-name> (required): Existing state name and replacement name.
  • state clear <name>: Session name whose saved states to clear; `--all` clears all saved states.
  • state clean --older-than <days> (required): Delete saved states older than the specified number of days.
  • Docs conflict: The current sessions documentation describes `--session-name` as legacy and recommends `--restore` with a stable `--session` for persistence; this differs from the v0.10.0 release note.
