agent-browser read extracts agent-readable text

Introduced 2026-06-24 · score 0.97

HOW TO USE IT

When extracting documentation or rendered-page text, run `agent-browser read <url>`; use `--llms index` or `--filter <text>` to narrow documentation results, or omit the URL to read the active tab’s rendered DOM.

agent-browser read <url>
agent-browser read <url> --llms index --filter <text>
agent-browser read

WHY THIS HELPS

Extract documentation or rendered-page text while inspecting a repository or its development documentation.

REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS

  • Version: v0.30.0
  • <url>: Page URL to fetch; omitting it reads the active tab’s rendered DOM.
  • --llms index | full: Read the nearest-ancestor `llms.txt` link list (`index`) or `llms-full.txt` (`full`). These values select distinct modes.
  • --filter <text>: Narrow page sections, `llms.txt` links or sections, or outline headings by text.
  • --outline: Print a compact heading outline for one page.
  • --raw: Print the response body without HTML extraction.
  • --json: Return the command output as JSON.
  • --require-md: Fail unless the server returns `Content-Type: text/markdown`.
  • --headers <json>: Send HTTP headers scoped to the URL’s origin.
  • --allowed-domains: Restrict allowed domains for read fetches.
  • --max-output: Set the output limit; applies to read output.
  • Prerequisite: Install the CLI (`npm install -g agent-browser`); the README’s installation section also says to run `agent-browser install` to download Chrome for first-time use.
