APIRequestContext request methods type JSON responses

Introduced 2026-09-04 · score 0.98

HOW TO USE IT

For a typed API request in Playwright v1.63.0 or later, pass the response type to `request.get<T>(url)` and use `response.json()` as `T`.

const response = await request.get<User>('/api/users/42'); const user = await response.json();

WHY THIS HELPS

Make a typed API request in a test and use the typed JSON response.

REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS

  • Version: v1.63.0
  • T (type argument) (required): Types the response from `json()`; use the expected response type, such as `User`.
  • url (required): Target URL for the GET request.
  • Prerequisite: Playwright v1.63.0 or later; the typed request method behavior was added in v1.63.
