azd deploy adds preview support for built-in service hosts
Introduced 2026-09-30 · score 0.97
HOW TO USE IT
When a project uses a built-in service host, run `azd deploy --preview` to ask each selected service target to describe deployment changes. Read the human-readable `Message` in text output or `services.<name>.data` with JSON output.
azd deploy --previewazd deploy --preview --output jsonWHY THIS HELPS
Preview the deployment changes for a project using a built-in azd service host.
REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- Version: 1.35.0
- --preview: Preview service deployment changes; cannot be combined with `--from-package` or `--timeout`.
- --output json: Select JSON output; preview `Data` is returned under `services.<name>.data`.
- <service>: Select a specific service; without one, the command selects all services listed in `azure.yaml`.
- Supported built-in hosts listed in the release span are App Service, Container Apps, Functions, Static Web Apps, AKS, and AI endpoints.
- Nothing is packaged, published, or deployed; service targets are not initialized and deploy hooks do not run.
- Services whose host does not support preview are reported and skipped.
- The flag cannot be combined with `--from-package` or `--timeout`.
