azd deploy supports configurable deployment timeouts
Introduced 2026-03-20 · score 0.96
HOW TO USE IT
When setting a timeout for an Azure Developer CLI service, configure `deployTimeout` in that service’s `azure.yaml` entry or pass `--timeout <seconds>` to `azd deploy <service>`. The CLI flag takes precedence over the service setting; the default is 1200 seconds.
azd deploy <service> --timeout <seconds>services:
- name: <service>
deployTimeout: <seconds>WHY THIS HELPS
Set a deployment timeout for an Azure Developer CLI service.
REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- Version: 1.23.11
- <service>: Service to deploy; omit to deploy services listed in `azure.yaml`.
- --timeout <seconds>: Maximum seconds `azd` waits for each service deployment; default is 1200. It stops waiting but does not cancel the Azure-side deployment.
- deployTimeout: Service configuration field in `azure.yaml` for a user-configurable deployment timeout. The release note does not document units, constraints, or subkeys.
- Prerequisite: The target Azure environment must have a subscription configured; the CLI source returns an infrastructure-not-provisioned error if the subscription ID is empty.
