chrome-devtools-mcp get_heapsnapshot_edges filters and sorting

Introduced 2026-08-25 · score 0.91

HOW TO USE IT

When inspecting a node’s outgoing heap snapshot edges, call `get_heapsnapshot_edges` with the snapshot path and node ID. Set `excludePrimitives: false` to include primitive targets; optionally filter by minimum retained bytes or choose an edge sort order.

get_heapsnapshot_edges({"filePath":"<path-to-heapsnapshot>","nodeId":<node-id>,"excludePrimitives":false,"minRetainedSize":<bytes>,"sortBy":"name"})

WHY THIS HELPS

Inspect heap snapshot edges while filtering primitive targets or ordering edges by size or name.

REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS

  • Version: 1.8.0
  • filePath (required): Path to the .heapsnapshot file to read.
  • nodeId (required): Node ID whose outgoing edges to return.
  • excludePrimitives: Whether to exclude primitive target nodes; defaults to true. Set false to include them.
  • minRetainedSize: Minimum retained size in bytes for target nodes.
  • sortBy: Sort edges by retainedSize, selfSize, or name; defaults to retainedSize. Values are alternatives.
  • Prerequisite: Enable memory debugging with `--memoryDebugging=true`.
  • `minRetainedSize` is measured in bytes.
  • `sortBy` accepts `retainedSize`, `selfSize`, or `name`.
  • Docs conflict: The newer v1.8.0 tag documentation lists `retainedSize` instead of `minRetainedSize` and omits `minRetainedSize`; this conflicts with the release note. Use the release-note parameter only as documented at the feature commit.
