Cloud Memorystore create commands accept zone distribution zones

Introduced 2026-06-23 · score 0.95

HOW TO USE IT

When creating a `MULTI_ZONE` Memorystore instance or Redis cluster, specify the zones with `--zone-distribution-config-zones` for the instance command. The current Redis cluster reference documents a different flag, so its matching syntax could not be verified there.

gcloud memorystore instances create <INSTANCE> --zone-distribution-config-zones=<ZONE>,<ZONE>
gcloud redis clusters create <CLUSTER> --region=<REGION> --zone-distribution-config-zones=<ZONE>,<ZONE>

WHY THIS HELPS

Create a Cloud Memorystore or Redis cluster with a `MULTI_ZONE` configuration spanning specified zones.

REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS

  • --zone-distribution-config-zones: Zone list for multi-zone instance resource allocation; not applicable to single-zone instances.
  • --zone-distribution-config-mode: Zone distribution mode; defaults to `MULTI_ZONE`. Documented values: `multi-zone` and `single-zone`.
  • INSTANCE (required): Memorystore instance ID.
  • CLUSTER (required): Redis cluster ID.
  • --region (required): Redis cluster region, unless supplied through a fully qualified cluster identifier or `redis/region` property.
  • The flag is described for creating a `MULTI_ZONE` cluster.
  • Docs conflict: The current Redis cluster reference documents `--zones`, not `--zone-distribution-config-zones`; its current mode values are `multi-zone` and `single-zone`. The release note names `--zone-distribution-config-zones` for the change, so the current reference does not verify that Redis flag's exact syntax or parameters.
