eas integrations:convex:connect saves the Convex URL as an EAS environment variable

Introduced 2026-05-12 · score 0.94

HOW TO USE IT

When connecting a Convex project to an Expo project linked to EAS, run `eas integrations:convex:connect` to save `EXPO_PUBLIC_CONVEX_URL` as an EAS environment variable. If it already exists, follow the command’s prompt to avoid an accidental rewrite.

eas integrations:convex:connect
eas integrations:convex:connect --region aws-us-east-1 --team-name "<team-name>" --project-name "<project-name>"

WHY THIS HELPS

When connecting a Convex project for EAS deployments, save the Convex URL as an EAS environment variable.

BEFORE THIS CHANGE

The Expo Convex guide previously instructed users to set the EAS environment variable manually; the release note says this integration automates that step.

REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS

  • Version: v18.12.0
  • --region <region>: Convex deployment region; documented options include `aws-us-east-1` and `aws-eu-west-1`.
  • --team-name <team-name>: Name for the new Convex team; defaults to the EAS account name.
  • --project-name <project-name>: Name for the Convex project; defaults to the app slug.
  • --non-interactive: Runs the command in non-interactive mode.
  • Prerequisite: An Expo account, EAS CLI installed, and an Expo project linked to EAS with `eas init`.
  • If the environment variable already exists, the command prompts the user to prevent accidental rewrites.
  • Docs conflict: Current Expo documentation says the command creates or updates `EXPO_PUBLIC_CONVEX_URL` for production, preview, and development environments. The v18.12.0 release note says an existing variable triggers a prompt to prevent accidental rewrites; the current docs do not describe that prompt.
