Introduced 2026-05-27 · score 0.91
HOW TO USE IT
For a same-project restore that must use the project service agent’s credentials, add `--use-project-service-account` to the compute or disk restore command.
gcloud backup-dr backups restore compute <backup> --project=<project> --location=<location> --backup-vault=<backup-vault> --data-source=<data-source> --name=<instance-name> --target-project=<target-project> --target-zone=<target-zone> --use-project-service-accountgcloud backup-dr backups restore disk <backup> --project=<project> --location=<location> --backup-vault=<backup-vault> --data-source=<data-source> --name=<disk-name> --target-project=<target-project> --target-zone=<target-zone> --use-project-service-accountWHY THIS HELPS
Restore a compute backup or disk using the project service account when required by the restore workflow.
REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- --use-project-service-account: Use BackupDR Project Service Agent credentials instead of the Backup Vault Service Account; supported only for same-project restores.
- <backup>, --project, --location, --backup-vault, --data-source (required): Identify the backup and its project, location, backup vault, and data source; project can be supplied by a fully specified backup name or `core/project`.
- --name, --target-project (required): Set the restored resource name and destination project.
- --target-zone (required): Set the destination zone for a compute restore; for disk restore, this is optional and mutually exclusive with `--target-region`.
- --target-region: Set the destination region for a disk restore; mutually exclusive with `--target-zone`.
- Prerequisite: The restore must be same-project to use `--use-project-service-account`.
