gcloud beta compute url-maps invalidate-cdn-cache adds extended matchers
Introduced 2026-09-15 · score 0.95
HOW TO USE IT
To invalidate Cloud CDN cache entries matching extended criteria, run the beta command for a URL map with the documented match flags. For wildcard host matching, set `--host="*.example.com"`; the current command reference does not document the new matcher flags or wildcard behavior.
gcloud beta compute url-maps invalidate-cdn-cache <URL_MAP> --host="*.example.com" --path="<PATH>"WHY THIS HELPS
Invalidate CDN cache entries using extended matchers, including a wildcard host match.
BEFORE THIS CHANGE
The documented command used the URL map with `--host` and `--path` selectors; it did not list the extended matcher flags.
REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- Availability: Beta track.
- URL_MAP (required): Name of the URL map to operate on.
- --path (required): Selects objects by URL path; path must start with `/`.
- --host: Limits invalidation to requests for the specified host. The release note says `*` wildcard matching is supported.
- --content-type: Added for extended invalidation matching; accepted values and detailed behavior are not documented in the current command reference.
- --http-status: Added for extended invalidation matching; accepted values and detailed behavior are not documented in the current command reference.
- --backend-bucket: Added for extended invalidation matching; accepted values and detailed behavior are not documented in the current command reference.
- --backend-service: Added for extended invalidation matching; accepted values and detailed behavior are not documented in the current command reference.
- Prerequisite: The command is beta and may change without notice.
- Prerequisite: Required IAM permissions: `compute.urlMaps.get`, `compute.urlMaps.invalidateCache`, and `compute.urlMaps.list`; documented roles include `roles/compute.networkAdmin` and `roles/compute.loadBalancerAdmin`.
- Wildcard matching is supported in the `--host` flag.
- Docs conflict: The current beta command reference, last updated 2026-05-27, does not list `--content-type`, `--http-status`, `--backend-bucket`, or `--backend-service`; the release note dated 2026-09-15 says these flags were added. The reference predates the change, so it does not establish post-change syntax or behavior.
- Docs conflict: The current beta command reference says a `*` in `--path` is allowed only at the end following `/`; the card's wildcard applies to `--host`, per the release note.
