HOW TO USE IT
When creating a workload policy or group placement policy, pass `--accelerator-topology-mode` with `AUTO_CONNECT` or `PROVISION_ONLY` to set the accelerator connection strategy.
gcloud compute resource-policies create workload-policy <POLICY_NAME> --type=HIGH_THROUGHPUT --accelerator-topology-mode=PROVISION_ONLY --region=<REGION>gcloud compute resource-policies create group-placement <POLICY_NAME> --accelerator-topology-mode=PROVISION_ONLY --region=<REGION>WHY THIS HELPS
Create a workload policy or group placement policy with an accelerator topology mode.
REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- POLICY_NAME (positional NAME) (required): Name of the resource policy.
- --type (required): Required for workload policies; choose `HIGH_AVAILABILITY` or `HIGH_THROUGHPUT`.
- --accelerator-topology-mode: Sets the accelerator connection strategy: `AUTO_CONNECT` creates a static, pre-formed topology; `PROVISION_ONLY` connects chips on demand, so they are not connected when the VM is created.
- --region: Region for the resource policy; omission can prompt for a region in interactive mode.
- Availability: generally available since 2026-05-05
