Introduced 2026-03-03 · score 0.92
HOW TO USE IT
When creating or updating a GKE node pool, set `--consolidation-delay` to the duration after which the Cluster Autoscaler can scale down underutilized nodes.
gcloud container node-pools create <pool> --cluster=<cluster> --consolidation-delay=3600sgcloud container node-pools update <pool> --cluster=<cluster> --consolidation-delay=3600sWHY THIS HELPS
Control when the Cluster Autoscaler can scale down underutilized nodes in a node pool.
REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- NAME (`<pool>`) (required): Node pool name.
- --cluster (`<cluster>`): Cluster to add the pool to or update; overrides the command's `container/cluster` property.
- --consolidation-delay (`<duration>`): Duration after which the Cluster Autoscaler can scale down underutilized nodes; example value: `3600s`.
- Prerequisite: The create command creates a node pool in a running GKE cluster; update changes a node pool in a running cluster.
- The flag controls when the Cluster Autoscaler can scale down underutilized nodes.
