get_heapsnapshot_details truncates class names and changes aggregate output

Introduced 2026-10-15 · score 0.95

HOW TO USE IT

When inspecting a heap snapshot, call `get_heapsnapshot_details` with the snapshot path and optional `maxNameLength` to truncate long names (default 100). Read `className` in CSV output and `heapSnapshotAggregates` in structured content; aggregate sizes are raw bytes.

get_heapsnapshot_details({"filePath":"<path-to-heapsnapshot>","maxNameLength":100})

WHY THIS HELPS

When inspecting heap snapshot details, limit long class names and consume the updated aggregate output fields.

BEFORE THIS CHANGE

Read the CSV `name` header and `heapSnapshotData` structured content, with sizes formatted as kB strings; class names were not truncated.

REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS

  • Version: 1.11.0
  • filePath (required): Path to a .heapsnapshot file to read.
  • maxNameLength: Maximum name length before truncation; defaults to 100.
  • pageIdx: Page index for aggregate pagination.
  • pageSize: Page size for aggregate pagination.
  • CSV header `className`: CSV output column label replacing `name`.
  • Structured field `heapSnapshotAggregates`: Structured content field replacing `heapSnapshotData`; aggregate sizes are raw bytes.
  • Prerequisite: Requires `--memoryDebugging=true`.
  • `maxNameLength` defaults to 100 characters.
