render ea sandboxes create --idle-timeout sets sandbox inactivity suspension

Introduced 2026-10-22 · score 0.94

HOW TO USE IT

When creating a sandbox with a chosen inactivity suspension policy, pass `--idle-timeout` in seconds; use `0` to disable automatic idle suspension. The release note says sandbox detail output shows the timeout, but the current CLI reference does not document how to fetch sandbox details.

render ea sandboxes create --idle-timeout <seconds>

WHY THIS HELPS

Create a sandbox with a specified idle suspension policy and inspect its timeout.

BEFORE THIS CHANGE

The v2.31.0 release note adds the `--idle-timeout` option; no earlier way to set this policy is documented there.

REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS

  • Version: v2.31.0
  • --idle-timeout <seconds>: Sets the seconds of inactivity before suspension; accepts 300–86400 or 0 to disable automatic idle suspension.
  • Prerequisite: Sandbox CLI commands require the `render ea` namespace during early access.
  • Prerequisite: Render Sandboxes is in early access; request access to use it.
  • Accepted timeout values are 300 through 86400 seconds, or 0 to disable automatic idle suspension.
  • Docs conflict: The current Sandboxes CLI reference documents `--timeout` as maximum sandbox lifetime but omits the v2.31.0 `--idle-timeout` option. It also does not document a sandbox detail command or how to inspect the idle timeout.
