HOW TO USE IT

When using App Management with no usable development store, run `shopify app dev` and create a store in its interactive flow. When stores already exist, choose “Create a new dev store” in the picker to create one and continue the preview; the official CLI docs describe the interactive picker but do not document this new choice.

WHY THIS HELPS

Start `app dev` for an App Management organization that has no usable development store, or select another store when the organization already has stores.

BEFORE THIS CHANGE

With no usable development store, interactive `app dev` dead-ended at the Developer Dashboard; with existing stores, developers had to leave the CLI to create another store.

REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS

  • Version: 4.8.0
  • Prerequisite: Shopify CLI requirements: Node.js 22.12 or higher, a Node.js package manager, and Git 2.28.0 or higher.
  • The inline flow is for interactive `app dev` using App Management.
  • Only `app dev` opts into store creation; other `storeContext` callers default to `disabled`.
  • The store-picker create option applies to organizations that already have stores and depends on the inline creation flow from PR #8323.
