Stripe Financial Connections sessions add explicit configuration options
Introduced 2026-07-29 · score 0.94
HOW TO USE IT
When a session must tailor collected accounts or the authentication fallback, create it with `filters.require_payment_method_support`, `limits.accounts`, and `manual_entry.mode` as needed. After manual entry, use the returned `bank_account_token`; subscribe to the eligibility update event when you need notice of confirmed payment eligibility.

Configure a Financial Connections session to collect accounts and handle authentication according to the integration’s use case.
BEFORE THIS CHANGE
Session behavior was implicitly determined by account holder type.
REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- Version: 2026-07-29.dahlia
- filters.require_payment_method_support: Restricts account selection: `all` makes every linked account payment-eligible; `at_least_one` makes at least one payment-eligible while allowing others; `none` imposes no restriction.
- limits.accounts: Maximum number of accounts a user can link in a session.
- manual_entry.mode: Controls manual bank entry fallback: `automatic` lets Stripe manage it; `disabled` removes the option. These values are alternatives.
- bank_account_token: Returned on the Session object when the user completes manual entry.
- enabled_events[] (required): Webhook event types to enable; include `financial_connections.account.supported_payment_method_types_updated` for payment eligibility notifications.
- Prerequisite: For the new options, use API version `2026-07-29.dahlia`; Stripe says to upgrade SDKs to the corresponding version if used, or send the `Stripe-Version` header for direct API requests. Upgrade the webhook endpoint API version as well.
- `filters.require_payment_method_support` accepts `all`, `at_least_one`, or `none`.
- `manual_entry.mode` accepts `automatic` or `disabled`.
- `bank_account_token` is returned when a user completes manual entry.
