Stripe Issuing adds card-presence spending controls
Introduced 2026-04-22 · score 0.95
HOW TO USE IT
When an Issuing card needs a card-presence restriction, update its spending controls with an allowed or blocked presence list. Inspect the Authorization’s `card_presence` to see its status; the docs’ example blocks `not_present`.
curl https://api.stripe.com/v1/issuing/cards/<ISSUINGCARD_ID> \
-u "<YOUR_SECRET_KEY>:" \
-d "spending_controls[blocked_card_presences][]=not_present"WHY THIS HELPS
Restrict Issuing card transactions in a repository integration based on whether the card was present.
REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- ISSUINGCARD_ID (required): ID of the Issuing card in the update URL.
- YOUR_SECRET_KEY (required): Stripe secret key used for authentication.
- spending_controls[allowed_card_presences]: Presence statuses to allow; authorizations with other statuses are blocked.
- spending_controls[blocked_card_presences]: Presence statuses to block; authorizations with other statuses are allowed. The example uses `not_present`.
- card_presence: Authorization object property showing the card-presence status.
