vercel build, deploy, pull, and dev accept --project
Introduced 2026-05-21 · score 0.99
HOW TO USE IT
When targeting a Vercel project by name or ID, pass `--project <NAME_OR_ID>` to `build`, `deploy`, `pull`, or `dev` to resolve it without project selection. The Vercel 54.3.0 release note also says this flag is accepted by `vercel deploy init`, but excluded from `vercel deploy continue`.
vercel build --project <NAME_OR_ID>vercel deploy --project <NAME_OR_ID>vercel dev --project <NAME_OR_ID>WHY THIS HELPS
Run a Vercel CLI command for a specific project in a monorepo or unlinked directory without interactive project selection.
BEFORE THIS CHANGE
Use interactive setup or the project picker to select a project; in unlinked directories, `vercel deploy` falls back to interactive setup.
REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- Version: 54.3.0
- --project <NAME_OR_ID>: Selects a Vercel project by name or ID; takes precedence over `VERCEL_PROJECT_ID` and `.vercel/project.json`.
- `--project` is excluded on `vercel deploy continue` because `--id` already identifies the deployment.
- API-based resolution requires the explicit `--project` flag.
