wrangler ai-search create accepts --parse-type
Introduced 2026-08-05 · score 0.98
HOW TO USE IT
When creating a website crawler that should discover pages by following links, set `--type web-crawler` and `--parse-type discover`.
npx wrangler ai-search create <NAME> --type web-crawler --source <WEBSITE_URL> --parse-type discoverWHY THIS HELPS
Create a scripted web-crawler AI Search instance that discovers URLs by following links.
BEFORE THIS CHANGE
The release note says the parse type could only be chosen through the interactive wizard, which was skipped when `--source` was supplied; scripted creation of a `discover` instance was therefore unavailable.
REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- Version: 4.119.0
- <NAME> (required): AI Search instance name; must be unique within its namespace.
- --type: Source type; use `web-crawler` for a website.
- --source: Data source identifier: R2 bucket name or website URL.
- --parse-type: Website URL discovery method; `discover` follows links recursively, while `sitemap` reads XML sitemaps. Documented as for `--type web-crawler` only; defaults to `sitemap`.
- Prerequisite: Install Wrangler before using the CLI.
- `--parse-type` is valid only with `--type web-crawler`; it is rejected with `--type builtin` or `--type r2`.
- The interactive wizard offers `Discover` alongside `Sitemap`.
- When the flag is omitted in non-interactive mode, the field is left unset and the API default (`sitemap`) applies.
