wrangler containers ssh supports forced pseudo-terminal allocation
Introduced 2026-09-29 · score 0.97
HOW TO USE IT
When running an interactive shell as a remote command, pass `--tty` before the command to force pseudo-terminal allocation.
wrangler containers ssh <INSTANCE_ID> --tty -- bashWHY THIS HELPS
When opening an interactive shell in a Container with a remote command, allocate a pseudo-terminal so the shell has a prompt and line editing.
BEFORE THIS CHANGE
For a remote command such as `bash`, SSH did not allocate a pseudo-terminal by default; the release note says to pass `--tty` to force one.
REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- Version: 4.144.0
- INSTANCE_ID (required): ID of the running Container instance to SSH into.
- --tty (-t): Force pseudo-terminal allocation.
- -- <remote command>: Run the specified command instead of the default shell.
- Prerequisite: The Container must be running, SSH must be configured, and a matching public key must be in `authorized_keys`.
- Docs conflict: The current Wrangler command reference documents `containers ssh` and remote commands but does not list `--tty` or `-t`; the release note for v4.144.0 documents the flag. No differing behavior is documented.
