wrangler temporary preview account workflow with --temporary
Introduced 2026-06-16 · score 0.96
HOW TO USE IT
When unauthenticated, run the supported Wrangler command with `--temporary` to use a temporary preview account. Follow Wrangler’s ToS and Privacy Policy notice, then claim the account using the printed URL within 60 minutes.
npx wrangler deploy --temporaryWHY THIS HELPS
Deploy or manage a Worker from an environment with no Cloudflare credentials using a temporary preview account.
BEFORE THIS CHANGE
Start the OAuth login flow to authenticate before running the command.
REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITATIONS
- Version: 4.101.0
- Availability: Temporary Cloudflare preview account; short-lived account token. Available only on Workers (`deploy`, `versions upload`, and related commands), KV, D1, Hyperdrive, Queues, and certificate commands. For unauthenticated use only.
- --temporary: Use a temporary account; supported only on commands that accept temporary credentials. Existing OAuth, API token, or global API key credentials cause an error.
- Prerequisite: Wrangler 4.102.0 or later is required by the current deployment instructions. Claim the account within 60 minutes; the user must complete the claim flow before the deadline.
- Using `--temporary` while already authenticated with OAuth, `CLOUDFLARE_API_TOKEN`, or a global API key errors.
- Interactive terminals prompt for `yes` to accept Cloudflare's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy; non-interactive shells print a notice and continue.
- The account must be claimed using the printed claim URL before it expires.
- The cached account is cleared on successful login or logout.
- The exact expiration duration and complete list of supported commands are not stated.
- Docs conflict: The release note identifies this feature in Wrangler 4.101.0; current Cloudflare instructions say the `--temporary` deployment workflow requires Wrangler 4.102.0 or later.
